Frequently asked questions
How much does sod cost in Utah?
Most residential installs run $1.20 to $2.50 per square foot delivered
and installed, depending on prep work. Removal of an old lawn adds to
it. We give a fixed price after walking the property.
How often should I water new sod?
Three to four short cycles per day for the first two weeks. Then every
other day for two weeks. Then every third day. By week six you should
be on a normal mature-lawn schedule.
Can I walk on new sod?
Light foot traffic is fine after two weeks. Heavy play, pets digging,
or mower traffic should wait three to four weeks until the roots knit
into the soil.
When can I mow?
Wait until the grass reaches 3 to 4 inches and you cannot lift a
corner of any piece. That is usually two to three weeks after install.
Mow on a higher setting the first few times.
Will my old sprinklers be enough?
Sometimes. We test pressure, coverage, and head spacing during the
quote. If the coverage is uneven we recommend upgrades before the sod
goes down.
What about pets?
Keep pets off the new sod for the first two weeks. Once it's rooted,
dog urine can still burn the grass. We could look at a hardier blend
or a dog-friendly synthetic turf if that is a concern.
